Following a request by a Precision Volleyball information collector, Precision Volleyball comes with separate set versions where no colour remains (black and white text only) and all flags have been removed. The corresponding write-up for this non-colour version (NCV) follows:
This set contains all 12 men's and 12 women's teams that competed at the Games held in Athens in 2004, with each team receiving team cards and team lists for ratings, as well as player scoring cards (maximum of 13 players included).
Brazil's men became gold medalists for the second time, dropping just one set in knockout matches against Poland, United States and then Italy in the final. It was still the best result for the Italians, having a best of bronze in 1984 in Los Angeles. After also losing their semi-final 3-0, Russia then shut-out the USA to claim bronze.
China's women would also become Olympic champions for the second time - this one going back to LA - and this came after ending the three-time reigning gold medalists Cuba 3-2 in the semi-final. But to win gold, they had to go even further in defeating Russia, coming from two sets down to win 15-12 in the fifth set. It was Russia's second straight silver. Cuba would claim a medal with a 3-1 win over Brazil for bronze.
