This set contains all 24 teams that competed in the tournament held in Austria, Hungary and Switzerland, with all teams having full and basic cards.
 
Norway continued their hold on women's handball with their third straight European title, and tenth overall. They won all nine matches, with their closest game a three goal win in the main round in Denmark.
 
The two teams would meet in the final, after the Danes stopped beaten Olympic finalists France in the semi-final, but Norway would pull away from a single goal half-time lead, to win 31-23 to add to their Olympic title in France earlier in the year. The French would also finish off the podium, with Hungary claiming their best finish since 2012, winning the bronze medal match by a single goal, 25-24.
 
Turkey and Faroe Islands each made their debut, with both gaining their first point in draws with North Macedonia and Croatia respectively, while co-hosts Switzerland - who made the main round - and Portugal made only their second appearance.
