This set contains all 12 men's and 12 women's teams that played in the Games in Paris, with goal scorers (and extra scorers) lists, as well as their simplified play module ratings for quick play scores.
The Netherlands claimed a historic double, but both came via a penalty shootout. The first was the men's, where although they drew with Great Britain and then lost to Germany in the pool stage, shutout wins against Australia and then Spain in the knockout phase saw them meet-up with the Germans again in the gold medal match. The Dutch this time took the lead early in the fourth quarter, before Germany equalised quickly. The game would end 1-1, but after both teams missed their first two attempts, the Netherlands made their next three to secure a third gold. India matched their bronze in Tokyo by defeating Spain 2-1 in the bronze match.
The women's followed them to gold, continuing their dominance with back-to-back and fourth gold in five Games. They swept all opponents aside, with seven straight wins to make the final, where they faced surprise opponents China. The Chinese women had lost three of their group games, including 3-0 to the Dutch, but first held off Australia for a shock 3-2 win in the quarter-final, before securing a second-ever medal by beating Belgium in a shootout. And they took the lead in the gold medal game, however a fourth quarter equaliser would force the game to another shootout. And the Netherlands were the better under pressure, securing a 3-1 shootout win to deny their opponents an upgrade from the same silver won in their home Beijing Games 16 years before. Argentina made it six medals (all non-Gold) from seven Games, with a similar 3-1 shootout win over the Belgians after a 2-2 draw.
