Serbia continued their dominance of the men's World Cup, winning a fifth title in six, and sixth overall, as they retained the title against the only ones to break their streak, the United States, 21-19 in the final. Latvia claimed only their second medal, as they took third by defeating Brazil, 22-12. For the South Americans it was by far their best-ever finish (after a previous best 16th).
 
In the women's, the United States claimed a third title, but first since 2014, as they defeated defending champions France 16-12 in the final. That came despite the USA losing their opening match against Canada, and needing to come through the play-in round. Australia claimed third in the closest way, 21-20 over China, by hitting two two-point shots, to equal their best-ever finish.
