In a repeat of the 2021 final, France overturned their loss to Norway two years earlier, with a 31-28 win. It was the French's third title, and first since 2017. After losing in extra time to the Norwegians in the semi-final, Denmark claimed consecutive third places by holding off the third co-host Sweden 28-27 in the third place play-off. The Swedes finished in a best fourth place for only the second time after 2017.
 
All eight quarter-finalists were from Europe, with seven non-European nations making the main round all being eliminated, with Brazil the best of them finishing third in their group.
 
In only their second Worlds, Senegal beat their fellow African qualifiers Cameroon in the main round, after drawing their first game with Croatia. Chile, Iran, Iceland and Greenland all also made only their second appearances at the Worlds.
