Adelaide were the minor premiers with a 9-1 record, but lost to the eventual champions by two points in the qualifying final, and then after beating Sydney - who won a final against Gold Coast, a year after losing all ten matches in their debut season - lost to North Melbourne in the preliminary final by a single point.
 
Brisbane beat Geelong by only four points in their prelim, but after trailing by a point in a low scoring first half of the Grand Final, the Queenslanders stormed home for a 17 point win, to add to their 2021 title, and denying North Melbourne their first-ever premiership.
