This set contains all 12 men's and 12 women's teams that played in the main round of the competition held in Singapore.
 
After Australia won the previous three tournaments, the winner immediately before that, Mongolia, ended the Aussies' run with a 21-18 win in the final. New Zealand slipped back one place to third when they defeated China 21-13, who also slipped back one and out of the medals. Both semis had been decided by a single point - Mongolia over the Kiwis 19-18 and Australia 18-17 over the Chinese.
 
After losing their title last year to China, Australia swept them aside 21-6 in the semifinal, before defeating their Antipodean rivals New Zealand 21-18, to claim their third title, matching the men's squad. China did claim third place in a low-scoring tussle over Thailand, 11-9. It was still the Thai's best ever finish.
