After winning their inaugural season at the only time a finals tournament has been held, Australia's men won their second league title, with a three point lead over defending two-time champions Netherlands. The two teams split their games with each other in India, but despite each losing three times, it was the two fewer draws that Australia instead won, which made the difference.

After South Africa chose to resign their promotion, beaten Qualifier finalists Ireland stepped in at a late stage as the ninth nation. Despite claiming a famous double win against Belgium in Antwerp, they would be the only two matches won, so were immediately relegated back to the qualifying league. They will be replaced by last year's relegated nation, New Zealand.

The Netherlands women would make it four titles in the five league seasons, only losing once in their 16 matches, as they finished 11 points clear of Germany and Argentina. Their only loss came to the border rivals Belgium at home, but they finished off their season by overturning that loss and then beating the second placed Germans.

After New Zealand chose not to enter their women's team once their men's was relegated, the United States returned to the league, but again finished last, and were relegated to the qualifying league. They will be replaced by Spain.
