The set contains 72 men and 72 women who were eligible to receive cards, in World Cup standings order with anyone who finished in the top 10 at a World Championship race from outside included in the 72. Each biathlete has two cards - one from time trial races and one for head-to-head races.
For the men, Norway's Johannes Thingnes Bø continued with his domination, winning his fourth overall title in five years, along with sprint and pursuit discipline crowns. Along the way, he won a record 16 World Cup races, and also took three World Championship golds. The only one he missed on was the mass start, won by Sweden's Sebastian Samuelsson, who needed to shoot clear to take his first ever Worlds gold. Bø missed three and was pushed to bronze.
For the women, it was much tighter, but as one of those who won three races, France's Julia Simon came out on top for her first overall title. And like Bø, she picked up two discipline titles - pursuit and mass start - also. Simon took gold at the World Championships in the pursuit (her first individual gold), but it was Sweden's Hanna Öberg who claimed most, with wins in the individual and mass start. Germany's Denise Herrmann-Wick was the other winner, in the sprint.
