This set contains the top 72 men's and 72 women's biathletes who were eligible for cards, with separate cards for head-to-head races and time trial events.
The season was hit by COVID-19, including with empty stands at many World Cup events as well as at the Beijing Olympics, and ended with Russian and Belarussian athletes banned from competing following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
In the men's World Cup, Frenchman Quentin Fillon Maillet won the overall title for the first time along with the sprint and pursuit small globes. In the women's World Cup, Norwegian Marte Olsbu Røiseland also did the same treble, winning her first overall title and the sprint and pursuit disciplline titles.
Both World Cup champions also won two golds in Beijing - Fillon Maillet won the opening individual as well as the pursuit, with Norway's Johannes Thingnes Bø - the defending World Cup champion, who missed a number of rounds during this season, winning the other two; the sprint and mass start disciplines.
Olsbu Røiseland's golds came in sprint and pursuit, and she took bronze in the other two disciplines, which were won by German Denise Herrmann in the individual and Frenchwoman Justine Braisaz-Bouchet in the mass start.
